NEET UG 2026: A purported confidential circular related to the upcoming NEET UG 2026 examination has been declared fake by the Press Information Bureau’s Fact Check unit, days before the test is scheduled to be conducted on June 21.The document, which was widely circulated across social media platforms, claimed to contain internal instructions for officials involved in the conduct of the NEET UG 2026 re-test. PIB clarified that no such circular had been issued and advised candidates not to trust, share or rely on unverified examination-related content.What the fake circular claimedThe circular, carrying the branding of the National Testing Agency (NTA), was titled “Directions to Examination Preparation and Moderation Panel for Re-NEET (UG) 2026”. It described itself as a confidential communication and outlined alleged examination guidelines.Among its claims, the document stated that a fresh question paper would be prepared independently of previous question sets. It further suggested that the examination pattern could be revised to place greater emphasis on conceptual understanding, analytical reasoning and application-based learning.

Another stated that moderators should maintain the examination in a “moderate-to-difficult range” while ensuring fairness to candidates.The circular also referred to confidentiality measures, security protocols and disciplinary action for unauthorised disclosure of examination materials.Social media reactions followed circulationThe contents of the document drew attention online, particularly because of references to question difficulty and conceptual testing.Reacting to the circular, one X user wrote, “Iska mtb paper rulane wala v aa sakta h.” Another user commented, “Lagta hai kisi hacker ne actual mein ye document le liya hoga!”The posts reflected the uncertainty among some candidates after screenshots of the purported circular began circulating online.PIB issues clarificationIn its fact-check alert, PIB categorically stated that the circular was fake and that no such communication had been issued regarding NEET UG 2026.The agency urged candidates to depend only on official notifications and verified sources for examination-related updates.The clarification comes as authorities continue preparations for the June 21 examination. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan recently reviewed readiness at the NTA headquarters, with discussions focusing on confidentiality, security arrangements, logistics and coordination among departments involved in conducting the examination.
