Ajay Devgn is reportedly taking on an additional role in his upcoming adventure drama ‘Ranger’. The actor, who leads the cast, has stepped behind the camera for the movie’s climax. Director Jagan Shakti had earlier filmed the climactic action sequence. However, the filmmaker reportedly felt that the finale could have a larger scale and stronger impact. Jagan Shakti then asked Ajay Devgn to oversee a fresh version of the action block. The actor’s long experience with action films is said to have influenced the decision. Ajay Devgn and action director Kevin Kumar began working on the revised sequence last week. The reshoot is reportedly taking place at Golden Tobacco Studio in Vile Parle.
Jagan Shakti wants a bigger action finale
The decision to revisit the climax reportedly came after the team reviewed the material already filmed. The makers wanted the sequence to match the scale expected from the adventure drama.According to Mid Day, “Ajay is reshooting a high-octane action block at Jagan’s request. The director felt that the superstar, being experienced in action, could take the climax to another level. Everybody on the team felt that it needed to look grander than what was shot. During the making of Maa [2025], too, Ajay had reshot certain key action sequences featuring Kajol.” The report also highlights Ajay Devgn’s previous involvement in action reshoots. He had reportedly worked on important action portions of ‘Maa’ as well.
Ajay Devgn and Sanjay Dutt face off
‘Ranger’ is set against the backdrop of wildlife conservation. Ajay Devgn plays a forest officer committed to protecting tigers. His character faces several difficulties while carrying out his responsibilities. He has to work with an ineffective team and deal with corrupt officials. The situation becomes more dangerous when he encounters poachers led by Sanjay Dutt’s character. The climax brings the two sides into direct conflict. The action sequence is expected to combine vehicle chases, gun battles and hand-to-hand combat.
Massive jungle set built for ‘Ranger’
The production team has reportedly created a large jungle environment at Golden Tobacco Studio. The set will serve as the backdrop for the movie’s climactic confrontation. Report says, “The makers have created a set of a massive jungle at the studio. The clash takes place between Dutt’s team of poachers, and Ajay and his officers. The sequence entails car chases, gun fights, and hand-to-hand combat.” The makers are now reshooting the sequence with Ajay Devgn involved in the execution. The team is reportedly aiming to make the finale more visually grand and action-packed.
Tamannaah Bhatia to shoot special song
After the climax is completed, the production will reportedly move to another major portion. Ajay Devgn and Tamannaah Bhatia are set to feature in a special dance number. The song is expected to be one of the final shooting commitments for ‘Ranger’. Once the number is filmed, the principal photography of the movie is expected to conclude.Meanwhile, Ajay Devgn’s latest release was ‘Dhamaal 4’. The adventure comedy arrived in theatres on July 3, 2026. Ajay Devgn played Guddu in the movie, which also features Riteish Deshmukh and Arshad Warsi.
